Print or papercut on cardboard, video

I am pleased to see how much fun you may have with words and cardboard. How can I not like this exhibition when the first thing I see is a wall saying "Good to see you"? Here is also an opportunity to meet Meryl Streep (At least her name is printed several times on cardboard), to learn how to not worry, to learn the names of the days of the week, to see the word "OR" in both positive and negative, and read the word "No" more times that it would be possible to say "yes". And a video where a woman bombard us with words in a quick response to photos presented beside her.

Drawings, paintings, installations, photos

Three artists of the LOCUS collective manage not only to fill the walls, but even use hidden places nobody has ever noticed in the tiny gallery space. The motives are spanning from octopuses to hermaphrodites, from magical crystals to a mystical labyrinth.

For the first time the part of Mother Earth emerging into the gallery is taken in use as an art prop.

A circular labyrinth made of broken glass and tiny fragments of a meteorite, face the painting that as the title proclaims, contains paintings of hermaphrodites in quite provocative poses.

For years, Dag Erik Elgin has spent his evenings drawing everyday objects from his home. And then he paints the drawings onto canvases. And the canvas is carefully prepared with that exact color. Even everyday motives from famous paintings are included, like food painted by Manet and Goya.
But the first paintings I see are of names in handwriting. Not just any handwriting, but that of Picasso, when he wrote down interesting artists that could be included in the 1913 Armory Show. It turned out that his intuition was quite accurate about who would later be famous artists.

Kunsthall Stavanger
Abstract paintings, drawings, installations and sculptures from 1958 to 2015

Now it is possible to see an exhibition of artworks by Sandnes-based artist Inger Bruun, from a career spanning 57 years from the earliest to the freshest item. All through the years the playfulness, the bright colors, the abstract bordering onto the figurative, the impulsive and the geometrical have been elements in her art. A large crowd was present at the opening to celebrate her.

Did you know that Statoil is not only producing oil, it is also a major art collector? Most of its art is only visible for the employees, but also visitors may on occasions have a look. Or you may have a virtual look at their webpages.

This event was the opening of an exhibition of documentary photos by Statoil's own photographer Leif Jan Berge.

A selection from the museum's collection in the event of the exhibition "Through the Woods" by Marit Victoria Wulff Andreassen

During the exhibition "Through the Woods" by Marit Victoria Wulff Andreassen the museum has made a selection of thematically or technically realated artworks from their collection. Here are artworks on the topic of gender, body or femininity, or artworks using organic lines, or even some shocking surprises.

I really like how the museum finds new ways to display their collection. Some of these artworks I have seen before, but most of them are new to me.

Drawings

I have never seen this much people at an exhibition opening at Stavanger art museum. Apparently I was not the only one considering this an opportunity not to miss: A solo exhibition by Marit Victoria Wulff Andreassen, introduced by art historian Gunnar Danbolt.

Probably nobody has ever drawn as many penises and vaginas as Wulff Andreassen has. And nobody is able to make it look as beautiful, intriguing, ornamental and delicate as she is able to. Objects and titles that in most other contexts would be considered obscene and repulsive, become wonderful and magical.

I spent a long time in the exhibition halls, smiling more and more for each picture. Each drawing is filled with beauty, humor and a serious undertone. In the end I felt as I had been to a great party, having eaten too many delicious cakes.
